I'm living proof that the power post natal wellness and nutrition gives a new mum is genuinely one of the best gifts you could ever give someone.
My first birth was text book. I gave birth with a midwife watching my every contraction and guiding me through my pushes which resulted in me pretty much jumping back into fitness less than 6 months later. I had gained a lot of weight during my pregnancy so joined a gym, got a trainer and completed my dream of completing a 10k 1 year later - brilliant. Then everything changed...
Jump forward 3 years on - my second baby was a water birth and sadly got delivered before I was fully dilated. My body was left utterly broken. My baby was safe but I was left in tatters physically and mentally. It was a real shock how broken I really was. Everything felt different and even carrying my baby around on my hip felt a physical struggle, which wasn't how I was expecting to feel at all.
My recovery took over 2.5 years to complete and during this time, I found myself constantly looking back at what I went through with the first and how straight forward my recovery was back then. I always took my fitness for granted and now hadn't any fitness to speak of (it's funny how you miss something when it's taken away from you). I wanted to get my physical strength back and to start feeling more like my old self and genuinely, it was down to one woman who helped make this happen.
