The French Bedroom Company - c'est incroyable
Last week, I had the pleasure of attending a product shoot at The French Bedroom Company in Haywards Heath.
If you're already aware of this dreamy location, you will fully appreciate why I had to write about my time there. For those of you who haven't been there before now, read on to find out why in my opinion, it's one of the best places to shoot a luxury & high end campaign.
Once you arrive to The French Bedroom Company, your eyes are immediately drawn to just how beautiful the buiIding and grounds are. The French Bedroom Company is actually someone's home that has had a huge amount of love and thought poured all over it. You're also immediately thankful for the oodles of parking spaces available directly in front of the front door - always a huge advantage when it comes to carting props and products too and from your car - priceless!
Once you've entered this very special building through the huge solid front door, your senses begin to go quite frankly, bonkers. Gorgeous chandeliers dripping with glass and sparkles, delicate wall lights, copies of 'Vogue' from years gone by are strewn across every beautiful room, all piled up elegantly against the tall and pristine skirting boards. The house also smells of fresh flowers and fresh air which is always a great sign as it shows that we are in a place owned by someone who obviously takes pride in what they do and own (and why wouldn't you be? This place is out of this world!)
Downstairs, there's a large, bright and airy kitchen that is fully equipped with all you could ask for to keep the team going on a busy shoot. There's also a playroom packed full of toys and entertainment, a raised veranda deck with smart furniture that's already set for lunch, all of which sits proudly above a well kept garden that sweeps along the back of the house that once again, is full of character and promise.
The front room of the house, is taken up with two very ornate and incredible French beds at either ends of the room. Each bed has a large and elegant head board, alongside sumptuous side lights, luxurious throws and props to help bring to life the lifestyle that us normal folk can only dream about. Around the corner from this room, is a large sweeping staircase that takes you up to 3 huge bedrooms, one of which has a free-standing bath with walk-in wardrobe. This room is covered in mirrors, Chanel boxes and a huge chaise lounge that oozes glamour and sophistication.
The room we chose to shoot the majority of our hero products in was the main front and back bedrooms. They each had floaty romantic curtains, sophisticated floral decor, light pouring in at every angle and soft furnishings that a 5 star hotel would be jealous of. Not only that, there was the most beautiful pair of Gina shoes that sat proudly perched on a shelf alongside marketing brochures. This pair of epic beauties kept me in good spirits for the whole of the shoot - I was totally in love! It was definitely love at first sight, and for once, I'm not just talking about the shoes! Everything about the venue was dreamy.
Up another set of sweeping stairs was another 3 bedrooms. 2 of the rooms were slightly smaller but equally packed with personality and beautiful details, both of which are children's bedrooms. The little girl's room comes full of romantic pink floaty girls dresses hanging beautifully from picture rails alongside an ornate dolls house perched on another French style dresser. In the double bedroom to the left, is another huge French bed alongside an extravagant gold edged mirror - divine. Everything that the house is decorated with is full of charm, history, personality and tonnes of love. The owners evidently have the most incredible & timeless taste and have brilliantly brought each and every room to life with differing but classically beautiful personalities which also helps to get varied shots when doing such a detailed shoot.
I had the privilege of meeting one of the owners 'Georgia' who was incredibly lovely. Everything we needed or asked for was organised immediately (not that we needed much more as everything was organised well in advance) - nothing was too much trouble which for me, when you've so much to get done in one shoot, is another huge benefit to such as well organised and professional venue.
Beautiful, professional, whimsical, luxurious, dreamy. Everything you could ask for in a location and much much more.
